Pricing: The formatting tool itself remains free to use. As of 2026, Draft2Digital charges new accounts a one-time $20 activation fee (existing accounts are exempt) and a $12 annual maintenance fee for accounts earning less than $100 in net royalties per year — the maintenance fee began rolling out on individual account anniversary dates starting May 14, 2026, and is intended to deter spam. Draft2Digital still earns approximately 10% of the retail sale price when books are sold through their distribution network; you can download formatted files and upload them elsewhere, with the commission applying only to D2D-distributed sales. Print-on-demand unit costs also increased in February 2026 following Ingram's pricing adjustment.
